Wham! was no more in 1987 and it was very important for George Michael to get his feet into the black music market, especially in the US. Besides his duet with Aretha Franklin this project on the ex-Shalamar singer's album of the same name gave him another opportunity to push this aim ahead.
The press was probably missing Andrew Ridgeley or how could it otherwise be explained that they were claiming they had found his new Wham! partner?
The song was produced by Chic's Bernard Edwards and George shared writer credits with R. D. Fields (who?).
